When upgrading vehicles with two fuel tanks to EFI a challenge is immediately encountered: Not only must a fuel source be selected but the return-style fuel regulator must return the fuel to the same tank. Further, if the vehicle has a shared fuel level gauge (as most do) then it is necessary to simultaneously switch the fuel source, fuel return and fuel level sender. This dual tank fuel system kit allows the installer to do precisely that.
This kit includes:
- TI Automotive (Walbro) 255 LPH Inline Fuel Pump with installation and mounting components
(One for the single pump kit, two for the dual pump kit) - Motorized Valve for switching fuel source, return and sender
- Tank Selection Switch (Main / Aux)
- Pre Fuel Filter 20 micron (one for each tank)
- Post Fuel Filter 10 micron
- Mounting Clamps for Filters
- Connectors for all electrical connections
- Detailed instructions
Other materials required for installation:
- EFI-rated Fuel Hose, 3/8- and 5/16-inch. Our Recommendation
- EFI-Rated Hose Clamps, 3/8- and 5/16-inch. Our Recommendation
- Fuel Tank Return Port. Our Recommendation
Should I Pick The 1-Pump or 2-Pump Version?
Clearly, the single pump version is less expensive. It is also a bit easier to install. And the single pump version should be completely adequate if your fuel tanks are located very closely together so that the single pump can be mounted close to both tanks.
But having two pumps does have its benefits. While both kits use Walbro / TI Automotive GSL392 255 LPH Fuel Pumps (which are well known for their bullet-proof reliability) the pump could have a failure. In the unlikely event of that happening, having two pumps means you can always pull from the second tank. And if the fuel outlets on your tanks would require that your single pump be mounted more than a 18-24 inches (horizontally) from either tank, then putting a pump close to each tank can reduce the strain on the pump and reduce the noise produced by the pump.
