Terminator X Throttle Body Injection (TBI) EFI Systems are similar to the original Terminator Stealth EFI Systems but feature the much more budget-friendly Terminator X and Terminator X-Max ECU rather than the HP and Dominator ECUs of the original Terminator EFI Systems.
If you're familiar with the Holley EFI product line you might be asking at this point why Holley needs a budget-friendly TBI EFI System. After all, they are pretty much ruling that market with their Sniper EFI Systems. But, for those who need it, the Terminator X Stealth EFI System, along with the original Terminator Stealth EFI System, meet some very unique requirements. First, they provide the ability to control electronic transmission applications, something that will never be in the Sniper's wheel-house. Second, for those who might want to do coil-on-plug ignition, the Terminator and Terminator X Stealth EFI Systems provide a path to this functionality. Again, this will never be done with a Stealth EFI System. For more insight on choosing the right TBI system for your application, read our article that answers the question, "Should I buy a Sniper or Terminator X Stealth?"
By adding the Terminator X Stealth to the existing Terminator TBI and Terminator Stealth TBI EFI Systems, Holley has dropped the price of admission to this advanced level of throttle body injection by hundreds of dollars while sacrificing features that the majority of users will never miss. To see a very detailed listing of the differences in capability between the Terminator X/X-Max and the HP/Dominator ECUs used by the original Terminator TBI and Terminator Stealth TBI EFI Systems, look here.
Terminator X Unique Features
Besides transmission control options and the capability to offer coil-per-plug ignition upgrades, the Terminator X piles on by offering a big 950 CFM flow capability. That's more than even the Sniper XFlow and puts this throttle body squarely in the range to flow enough for 800 NA horsepower (though you'll want to opt for the 8-injector version if you're looking to produce this kind of power.) While the on-board MAP sensor is limited to 1 Bar it is still possible to add your choice of external MAP sensors and incorporate blow-through or draw-through boost to your engine.
Just as noteworthy is the fact that the Terminator X Stealth TBI EFI System uses an external ECU that is safely located in the chassis of the vehicle. For folks who are especially concerned about the potential impact of radio-frequency or electro-magnetic interference, this is great news and is likely worth the modest difference in price between comparable entry-level EFI systems with the ECU co-located in the throttle body.
Here are some other features:
- Easy to install
- No computer experience required
- Handheld tuner included
- Simple multiple choice set-up wizard
- Self-tunes while you drive
- Optional Laptop Tuning capability (no cost--free download.)
- Available in Polished, Black, or Classic Gold Throttle Body
Fits all standard square flange intake manifolds. Connections for Ford, GM TH350 and 700R4, and other transmission linkages.
While similar in scope to the Sniper EFI systems, the Terminator X TBI systems have some features that set them apart from Sniper. To name a few:
- Remote-Mounted ECU typically much less sensitive to radio frequency interference (RFI)
- Capability to drive Holley EFI Fuel and Oil Pressure gauges*
- Knock Sensor Capability*
- Fully Programmable I/O
- Customizable Sensors
- Alpha-N Load Sensing
- More Advanced Boost Control
- Staging Assist
- Transmission Control
- Timing Control Compatibility with GM HEI or Ford TFI Ignitions*
*Requires additional hardware not included in the basic Terminator TBI system.
The Each Terminator X EFI System includes the following:
- Stealth Throttle Body with:
- 100 PPH Fuel Injectors (@ 60 PSI)
- 1-BAR MAP Sensor
- Throttle Position Sensor
- Idle Air Control (IAC) System
- Holley Terminator X® or Terminator X-Max® ECU
- Bosch Wideband Sensor and Weld Bung
- Coolant Temperature Sensor
- 3.5-inch Handheld LCD Touchscreen Display
- Main Wiring and Power Harness
- I/O and Ignition Adapter Harnesses
- Brackets, Gaskets, and Fasteners
What makes the LS version of the Terminator X Stealth Unique?
Primarily, the difference lies in the harness. The LS version of the Terminator X offers an LS-specific harness that plugs and plays with the factory sensors and ignition. You will click-connect to the factory (or factory-style) coil packs, to the crank and cam sensor, to the factory oil and knock sensor. While the Terminator X ECU at the heart of both the standard and LS versions has the capability to support these, the standard version's harness is not pre-populated with these wires and connectors. By purchasing the LS version you make this a truly plug-and-play experience.
At this time, there is no 8-injector version of the Terminator X Stealth LS.
What Else Will I Need?
Required: EFI Fuel System with
- EFI Fuel Pump
- Pre- and Post-Pump Filters
- Fuel Pressure Regulator (Return-Style)
- Associated Hose, Hose Ends, Clamps, Adapters, Etc.
Optional: Components to control ignition timing.
Available With Transmission Control
Owners of vehicles with the GM 4L60E, 4L65E, or 4L80E transmissions are really going to like this--the Terminator Universal Throttle Body EFI System is available with transmission control for these popular transmissions. Easy setup on the handheld display using the same setup wizard that creates the configuration for EFI control. Once configured you can simply drive and enjoy or use the handheld to fine-tune the upshift and downshift points, WOT upshift, torque converter clutch parameters, and more. You can even tune the line pressure vs. TPS or MAP for each gear! Installing this on a Ford with a 4R70W/4R75W electronic transmission? Contact us--we can make that work for you too!
Fuel System Upgrade Options
You probably recognize that you need to upgrade your fuel system if you're upgrading from a carburetor or the old GM throttle-body injection to this Terminator X TBI kit. Fortunately, you have a lot of great options! We have fuel pump modules to fit a broad assortment of gas tanks as well as complete EFI fuel tank systems fit many popular muscle cars and trucks. If you have any questions at all, just contact us and we can help design a fuel system that is perfect for your application!
