Retrofit fuel tank modules that allow you to install an in-tank EFI fuel pump into traditional fuel tanks have been around for a while. And while the Holley In-Tank EFI Retrofit Module is really amazing with its billet aluminum body, 450 LPH flow capability, and Holley Hydramat fuel sock, there exists a market for a retrofit fuel module that was more, shall we say, cost effective. Hence the introduction of the Holley Sniper Die-Cast In-Tank EFI Retrofit Module.
Comparing RetroFit Fuel Tank Modules
Sniper EFI Retrofit Module | Holley EFI Retrofit Modules |
---|---|
340 LPH Fuel Pump | 255 LPH or 450 LPH Fuel Pump |
Die-Cast Aluminum Hat | Billet Aluminum Hat |
Standard Pickup Sock Filter (1.5" x 1.5") Included | Holley HydraMat Pickup (3" x 15") Included |
Like it's more expensive brother, these Sniper Die-Cast In-Tank EFI Retrofit Modules allow you to install an in-tank fuel pump is just about ANY fuel tank with a horizontal top. That's right, simply cut a hole, drop in the module, and the self-sealing style clamps itself tight from the inside of the tank to give you a text-book EFI solution. But much of the difference in price is found by opting for a standard filter sock instead of the excellent (but very expensive) Holley Hydramat filter sock. And provided that you keep your fuel tank adequately filled you may never notice the difference.
Instead of offering the TI Automotive 255 or 450 LPH pumps for this model, these come with the Aeromotive Stealth 340 pump. Based on our very precise calcuations, you can conservatively expect this pump to support the following horsepower levels when running at 13.5 volts with sufficiently large plumbing and filtration:
Operating PSI | Approx Flow | Fuel Type | BSFC* | Max HP |
---|---|---|---|---|
40 PSI | 340 LPH | Gasoline | 0.5 | 895 HP |
40 PSI | 340 LPH | Gasoline | 0.6 | 720 HP |
40 PSI | 340 LPH | E85 | 0.5 | 645 HP |
40 PSI | 340 LPH | E85 | 0.6 | 520 HP |
60 PSI | 285 LPH | Gasoline | 0.5 | 750 HP |
60 PSI | 285 LPH | Gasoline | 0.6 | 600 HP |
60 PSI | 285 LPH | E85 | 0.5 | 540 HP |
60 PSI | 285 LPH | E85 | 0.6 | 440 HP |
*Brake-specific fuel consumption of 0.5 pound per horsepower-hour is often associated with naturally aspirated engines. A BSFC of 0.6 is often associated with boosted and sprayed engines. Consult your engine manufacturer to determine the right BSFC for your specific application.
These retrofit fuel tank modules are available with or without built-in pressure regulators. Opt for this and you don't even have to install a return fuel line. Simply use your existing hard fuel line and replace the original hose with some Earl's Vapor-Guard EFI Hose and you're set! Be sure to install your In-Tank EFI Retrofit Module with a rollover vent valve. This allows the tank to breath without risk of fuel spill in the event of a rollover.
