Here's the story in his own words

I bought this car back in 1976 when I was 16. It is my first car. I drove it for several years until I decided I wanted to "restore" it in the mid-'80s. It remained disassembled for the next 35 years while I hauled the shell and its parts all over the country as I wasn't about to get rid of it. I didn't want to be one of those guys that say, "I had a Camaro like that, but I sold it. I sure wish I still had it."

After a few false starts in early 2000, I finally started on it in earnest in the winter of 2019. In May of 2022, I could finally drive it again after all these years. That was way too long not to enjoy this car, and I plan on driving it whenever I can, for as long as I can. It is NOT a trailer queen!

Even though the original drivetrain and 90% of the Z/28 parts were long gone, even before I bought it, I originally wanted to restore it as accurately as possible the way the factory built it. Then I decided to modify it a bit to make it a comfortable and reliable cruiser. I installed TMI Sport Seat covers for extra comfort, 17" Cragar wheels for the old-school look with a modern vibe, and slightly dropped the suspension. Along with a Tremec TKO-600, I also decided to go with EFI. After discovering EFISystemPro.com, I decided that the Sniper Stealth 4150 was the system for me.

Keeping with the factory look, I retained the factory fuel system by installing Holley's in-tank fuel module system with the Hydramat pickup and Holley fuel filter. I then bypassed the mechanical fuel pump while using the factory fuel lines. I also added a Pertronix Igniter II ignition system. Larry Mazzola's 69 Chevelle gave me the ideas and the proof that it could be done. Thanks!

The engine was broken in with a carburetor and the old points distributor. But, being very familiar with Murphy's Law, I wasn't expecting much when it came to the engine's first start-up with the new EFI and ignition. I couldn't believe it started right up! I've been shaking down the car for the last 200 miles, and so far, I have a couple of questions, but I already know from past experience the EFISystemPro team will be there to help!
