Plenty of our customers buy a Terminator X EFI System for their vehicle and then later add an electronically-controlled transmission to their project vehicle. They contact us wondering what transmission controller they should use.
Certainly, there are some good ones out there. Holley makes several, and others are available from a host of suppliers. But, having gone the stand-alone transmission controller route, it is our belief that the single best way to proceed is with the Terminator X-Max that allows you to control your transmission with the same system that is currently controlling your fuel injection, ignition, nitrous, two-step, and whatelse you may be controlling with your Terminator X.
But you don't have to rip out your entire gorgeous Terminator X installation to do this and buy/install a Terminator X-Max with Transmission Control. Just upgrade the ECU and add the appropriate transmission control harness. Voila, you're in business. What's more, if you select "Pre-Program My ECU" and email us the configuration file from your current Terminator X ECU, we'll load your current configuration onto your new ECU and add the necessary transmission configuration. By doing so, you just swap in place the X-Max ECU, connect up the included transmission harness, crank and drive. No further configuration necessary. You retain all of your existing tune and learning and don't touch a thing.
